Update:

After consulting with a structural engineer and receiving a report regarding the safety of the Sneads building, it has been determined that WFEC employees may stay in the building. The work stations and other areas used by employees remain safe and pose no danger to them. The drive thru will be open for members to accept payments but on the recommendation of the structural engineer and with an abundance of caution for the safety of our members, the office will remain closed to the public at this time. We will make updates as we continue to navigate repairs and/or construction at this office.

Beginning Tues., Sept. 3, the Sneads office will be temporarily closed for drive thru and in-person payments. This closure is being made out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of WFEC’s members and employees who utilize that office. We believe there are major structural problems occurring within the building including leaning/shifting walls, holes and cracks in the floors/walls and flooding. Some damage has progressed over the past several months; however, there was a noticeable shift in the floor and walls overnight. These issues are believed to be directly linked to damage caused by Hurricane Michael. The last thing we want to do is put the safety of our employees or members at risk. The co-op’s initial plan is to engage a structural engineer who will conduct a thorough study and make recommendations as to what should be done with the building in its current state. WFEC is exploring options to open a temporary location in the Sneads area to accommodate drive thru and in-person payments as soon as possible. No line personnel will be moved out of the area. We encourage members to use the variety of alternate payment options available to them including the mobile app, online member portal, and the automated payment line, 855-688-3322.
